At Baltonsborough Primary School, PE is an integral part of our curriculum. Through our PE curriculum we aim to give all children the opportunity to be physically active. It is important to us that we promote and model ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body’ and use physical activity to benefit our children’s mental health and well-being. Throughout their time at Baltonsborough, all children will have the opportunity to take part in competitive sport, both intra-school and inter-school competitions. By taking part in competitive sport, the children will be taught important values such as respect, resilience, equality, inclusion, teambuilding and perseverance.

We will give the children access to a wide range of equipment allowing them to take part in a broad range of sports. We will give all children the opportunity to experience professional competitive sport, through watching professional sport or by having sportspeople visit us in school and talk to the children. James MacAllister says ‘physically educated persons are those who have learned to arrange their lives in such a way that the habitual physical activities they freely engage in make a distinctive contribution to their wider flourishing’ and we believe this encapsulates how important a rich and purposeful PE curriculum is for the children at Baltonsborough.
